ONLINE ART VALUATION AND ART APPRAISAL

Reducing the Size of Digital Photos

Most digital photos are suitable for uploading for a valuation. However, if you have trouble uploading your photos - no thumbnail appears on completion of upload, for example - it is probably because the image is too large.

This means you will have to reduce the size of your photos to successfully upload them. A maximum image height or width of around 4000 pixels, and a maximum image file size of 5MB are advisable.

You can reduce the size of your photos either by setting your camera to shoot smaller images BEFORE photographing your pictures, or by resizing your pictures using photo gallery or image editing software AFTER you have shot your pictures.

Adjusting Your Camera Settings To Shoot Smaller Photos

To shoot smaller images, you need to check the image size setting on your camera and make sure it is set to Medium, or to capture an image with a maximum image height or width of around 4000 pixels.

Check your camera instructions for the correct procedure to follow for reducing image size for your camera.

Resizing An Existing Photo in Photo Gallery or Image Editing Software

To resize your existing photos, use photo gallery or image editing software to save or export a copy of a photo at less than full size.

Resizing and saving a copy of an image with a maximum dimension (either width or height) of 4000 pixels should enable you to upload this copy of your photo successfully.

Check your Photo Gallery or Image Editing Software help section or instructions for the correct procedure to follow to reduce the size of an image.
